Bible Club Week

By shaunefc, Jun 1 2012 04:43PM

Our annual Bible club is due to take place on Monday 11th June to Friday 15th June. We are, as usual, greatly thankful to the Blunt family (Richard, Joy, Anna and Deborah) for giving us more than a week of their time to come to Egerton to lead our Annual Bible Club which, as in the past, will be held on the school field each afternoon from 3.30 to 4.30pm.

This is our main means of outreach to the children of the village and surrounding area at present since the Sunday Club finished a few years ago – and through the children to the family as a whole – and it is a very important means of presenting the gospel message, especially to those children who would otherwise receive little input.

The Bible encourages each one of us to teach our youngsters who are the future generation who will populate our land the meaning and message of the Christian gospel with such reminders as:

These words which I command you today shall be in your heart; you shall teach them diligently to your children.” [Deuteronomy 6:6/7]

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” [Proverbs 22:6]

And it’s not only when we reach old age that the results of our learning during childhood counts:

Even a child is known by his deeds, by whether what he does is pure and right.” [Proverbs 20:11]

And in the gospels we read about the importance that Jesus placed generally upon children:

They brought young children to (Jesus), that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.’ And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.”

I trust that none of us would ever seek to displease our Lord in forbidding even one child from hearing the gospel message, but would, rather, give every opportunity to every child to attend such meetings as our Bible Club whenever possible!
